Good News from Finland: The film and TV sector in Finland is blooming

Finnish films, TV series and animations have been creating positive buzz during the past year not only in Finland but also internationally. “It’s an encouraging way to start the new year”, writes Head of Film in Finland, Hanna Vuorinen in an article published on Good News from Finland website.

Finnish content is finding new audiences internationally, films are picking up awards and international productions are keen to collaborate with Finnish talents and production industry. Finnish audiovisual industry in growing fast: the total revenue of production companies rose by more than 40 per cent from 2017 to 2019. After covid years this upward trend is continuing in 2022.

Year 2023 seems to keep the ball rolling, as anticipated premiers of series like Estonia produced by Beta Film and Dance Brothers by Endemol Shine Finland, Nordic Noir Spoof series “NoPoFo” by Ilkkas' Creative Studio or new season of Gigglebug's animation series Yellow Yeti are about to see the air, just to name a few examples.
