Balancing Work and Life in Finland: Why Summer Matters

News 02.07.2026

Summer in Finland is more than a season – it's a mindset.

As productions around the world race toward deadlines, many Finns take time to recharge and enjoy their summer holidays during the brightest weeks of the year. After a long winter and short days, summer is something Finn enjoy the fullest. In the north, the sun does not set at all, creating the magical phenomenon of the Midnight Sun and seemingly endless evenings.

For international producers, it's business as usual. Finland's audiovisual industry keeps productions moving throughout the summer.

Long Bright Days, Happy Crews

For filmmakers, Finland's unique seasons are part of the country's appeal. In summer, productions can benefit from exceptionally long daylight hours, while winter brings the opposite advantage: long periods without daylight and complete control over lighting conditions. It is no coincidence that international productions come to Finland to capture both the midnight sun and the deep blue light of the Arctic winter.

The Finnish approach to work is built on trust, reliability and efficiency. Work days are maximum of 10 hours. International productions regularly praise Finland's professional crews, collaborative spirit and smooth production environment.

Behind that reputation is a simple idea: people do their best work when they also have time to rest. Happy crews make great productions.

We wish all producers, cast, crew and industry partners a wonderful summer season. ☀️🇫🇮
